Dr. Karen Schwabe is currently the head of medical services at Stormers/Western Province Rugby.
Previously team physician for the Springbok 7’s rugby team from 2011-2014, Olympic team 2016, Commonwealth team 2014, All African Games 2011, FIFA 2010 VIP doctor and head of medical for Two Oceans medical tent 2009-2015.
Previously in charge of the chronic disease rehabilitation at U-turn centre at Stellenbosch between 2014 and 2017.
Dr Schwabe headed up a Netcare Trauma Unit from 2002 to 2012 . During this same time did voluntary rescue work for the AIr Mercy Service, both on the fixed wing and the helicopter , while also working for SOS International.
Dr Schwabe is a PhD candidate (UCT) on the topic of medical complications in distance running events. She has published numerous papers on this topic.
